Default VoIP Setup Nightmare

Hi There,

I am attempting to setup VoIP with Blueface (PAYG Ac) on my broadband connection, Just to describe my setup:

BB Provider: Permanet Wireless Broadband
Hardware: Arris Cable Modem CM450
Wireless Router: Linksys WRT54GSV4
ATA: Linksys PAP2 Phone Adaptor
Phone: Standard Analogue Eiircom Phone

I am having a few problems here, thought it would be a case of just loggin into the ATA & putting in my blueface details to the device & off I go - far from it.
I am not gettin any Dial tone, from the unit, also on the PAP2 HTTP interface under 'Line 1 Status' I am gettin the following:

'Registration State: Can't connect to login server'

So I assume it cannot get properly connected to blueface here, when I ping sip.blueface.ie from my laptop it Pings 100%.
I have been told that my Arris BB Modem is set to DHCP & also my Linksys Router is set to DHCP & that is where there may be a possible problem, the SIP protocol in the ATA is gettin confused & cannot route its way out through my network setup.

I have attempted also to connect the ATA directly to the Arris Modem, therefore bypassing the Router & tried to get a connection but nothing.
The ATA does not even pick up a valid IP Address from the cable modem after I reset the unit. In this case it should be gettin 192.168.176.x but no matter what I do its always getting 192.168.1.101 & yes its set to DHCP.

Its problems in every direction really & I seem to be getting no results, i have tried reading all the documentation on the net & still no good, do I need to setup portforwarding or something like UDP or uPnP settings on my linksys router & then would everything be ok??

A lot of questions - no answers??

Help Please would be much appreciated....

Default DHCP

Am interested in your problem as I have a similar ISP set-up and would like to get the same Linksys router.

I am not a networking expert but you cannot have 2 DHCP Servers running on the network. Neither can you have 2 default gateways. The ISP's router will have to be both DHCP Server and the default gateway.

Try this and post back. Hope someone with more knowledge will reply as well.

Good luck.

yo man you need to make sure you have forward ports on your router

ports need to forward are 5060 and 10000 to 20000 to your ATA

in your linksys ATA Login to admin choose line 1

line enable =yes

sip port =5060

proxy=sip.blueface.ie

register =yes

Register Expires:3600

the rest is =no

display name =your name

User id=your blue face user name

password=your blueface password

Use Auth ID=no

Auth ID:=blank

scroll down to Preferred Codec=G711U

Hit save settings

this should work for you

but make sure that you have your wireless router ports forward to your ata .

email me @ help@mcgovern.dynu.com if you run in any more problems

Hi fcarroll,

The double NAT'ting should not affect your initial registration request and I would be confident that you could rule that out as the reason your PAP2 is not currently registering (once you have an initial registration working double NAT can then cause problems).

In regards to plugging your PAP2 directly into your ASUS Modem thats a good approach to take. If your PAP2 is not immediately picking up an IP address then try rebooting the ASUS modem. ISP's often have tight restrictions on how many devices can obtain an IP address and switching devices often means you'll have to wait for the old lease to timeout before the new device will get assigned an address (I don't know how Permanent handle this but it used to cause us heaps of porblems with NTL).

If your PAP2 does pick up an IP address from the ASUS and is still not registering properly the please send an email into support@blueface.ie with "For Attn: Aaron" in the subject and I'll see if we are getting any SIP traffic at all from your PAP2.

Regards,

Aaron

Hi There,

Well the good news is that I have managed to get this problem sorted:
Simple solution, I assigned a Static IP Address to the PAP, not even port forwarding needed, but all I can make now is out going calls, cant recieve them:

Have a look & let me know what you think??
