076 from BT landline = engaged tones - VoIP forum : discuss internet telephony

I am unable to call 076 numbers from my BT Ireland landline. I just get an engaged tone. I have tried BT support about 10 times and they keep saying they've solved the problem and closing tickets. But the problem persists.

Can anyone else confirm they have this problem?

Would Blueface perhaps check with BT if this is a general issue - you might have more persuasion power than me!

I worry because I assume that anyone who tries to call my 076 number from a BT landline will just get an engaged tone.

For info: the number works if I dial the full country code 0035376xxxxxxx - so it is definitely just a BT exchange setting. It used to work fine when I was with Ercom.
