Hi,
Can anyone help? I have a SPA-841 connected to a WRT54g wifi router. My ISP is WTS Broadband, a wireless broadband provider in rural areas of county tipperary and likerick. I can make out going calls OK all is fine. However I cannot get the sip phone to ring if I call either my VOIP number or local assigned number. If I call from my eircom landline (that I want to get taken out) to the blue fave voip number I do not even get a ringing out, the call goes to an voice mail saying "extension is buisy...." Please help as this is driving me mad. Thanx

First thing to check is port forwarding - incoming calls to the IP address that your ISP gives you come in on port 5060 or 5061 - you need to ensure that whichever of your two devices is doing the DHCP is forwarding all unsolicited incoming packets on these ports to your VoIP phone device.
If you aren't sure about how to set up port forwarding correctly, have a look at http://www.portforward.com/ and choose your model of device and the service that you want to configure it for (choose Vonage from the list, as they use SIP, just like Blueface) |

Hi Thanks,
However I have port forwarding set up as follows on the WRT54GS: Under Applications & Gaming tab> Application_____Start______End______Protocol______ _IP Address PF0 __________5060______5061_______Both_______192.168. 0.100 PF1__________10000_____20000______ Both_______192.168.0.100 192.168.0.100 id the static address given to the SPOA-841 and both PF0 and PF1 are enabled. So all looks OK but still incoming calls go str8 to the voice mail? HELP!!! Last edited by zicom; 05-02-08 at 09:29 AM. |

Hi zicom,
Are you only logging in the SPA-841 with your username? If you login multiple devices with the same username you'll run into issues as we only support a single registration per SIP username. Your account is switching between the SPA941 and your xten being logged in as the contact. You can create a new SIP account to use with the xten by logging into www.blueface.ie selecting the PBX GUI and the SIP tab. Apart from that I did a trace on a call to your account when the SPA-941 was logged in. The call did get through and the SPA-941 returned a "486 Busy Here" response. That could be caused by the line being in do not disturb mode or something like that. If it looks like that isn't the case then you may have an even more annoying problem to do with your Linksys router. I've found that with the later Linksys routers they have built in a SIP Application Layer Gateway (ALG) assumedly to help SIP traffic across NAT. However all it does is make things worse and I was unable to receive calls on my Cisco 7960 until I eventually got around to getting a new router. Try the first two suggestions before looking into the ALG though. Regards, Aaron

Hi Aaron,
Thanks for your help. I have took the SPA-841 Sipura sip phone out of the link and left the WTR54GS router as is and I gat incoming calls to X-lite OK. Even if I dissable the port forwarding on the WRT54gs, or even if I rout to an IP address that is not my PC? So from this it looks like the problem sits with the SPA-841 sip phone. Will take a look at settings again but all look OK to me. I have the following dial plan in the SPA-841: (999|911|112|S130[1-5]|3xxx.|171|11[013-9]x.|1[02689]x.|[2-4]xxxxxx|0x.|*x.) Dont know if that is an issue? I will try further and post back to this thread any findings as if I can overcome this it may help others. Do you have any settings for the SPA-841? Thanks again Jay |

Hi Jay,
It sounds more and more like the SIP ALG in the WRT54GS router. The xten is probably the best SIP device around at handling all the weird and wonderful network conditions and it will pretty much work anywhere it's not completely blocked. I did use an SPA-841 eons ago but I can't recall what settings it has. Does it have a setting to enter a STUN server anywhere? If so that would be worth a try. You can enter 194.213.29.110 as your STUN server. Regards, Aaron

Hi,
You put me on the right line.....just a matter of finding stuff in the web based admin for the SPA-841. All is working fine now. It was the "Do not disturb" setting on the SPA-841. In advanced under the User tab the DND was set to "no" (thats OK). However under the Phone tab, again only visable in advanced login, there is another setting DO Not Disturb, this was set to "Yes"....set it to "No" and all working fine. So if you reading this and have SPA-841 check both tabs for DND and Do Not Disturb. Also a WRT54GS works fine as long as you set the port forwarding as in the post above (with your own IP address). Aaron, thanx for the hint to the direction to go in. Looking forward to cheeper calls.....cna highly reccomend Blue Face. You will soon see many customers of our WTS broadband joining you. If anyone lives in rural Limerick east or Tipperary west and south and you can not get broadband, check out www.wtsbb.net we may be able to provide. Once again thanks |

Folks
I have a WRT54GS upgraded with the latest version of firmware 7.5 the router is blocking my voip traffic and my SPA 921 phone keeps failing registration. Linksys were brutal in terms of helping me configure the router. I have set in applications and gaming the relvant ports 5060-5061 both UPD and TCP and 10000-20000 same again and have linked them to the IP of my phone. My phone is on a static IP address 192.168.2.100 any ideas why the phone keeps losing registration? The phone is recognised on my network also no issue there
